A Fun-Filled Weekend For The Whole Family!

A Career Day seminar covering Sports Information and Broadcasting for middle school and high school students. Featured presenters from the Michigan High School Athletic Association, the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association and the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association. Presented by the Student Broadcast Foundation.

Middle School & High Schools Students: Start Working in Sports Information and Broadcasting now. Build your resume while in high school. You may then qualify for a work in the Sports Information Department or Sports Broadcasting Department at many Colleges and Universities as a freshman. Attend our seminar to find out how. Bring your parents.

The MHSAA, the Student Chapter of the (DSBA) Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association 501 (c)(3) and the Student Broadcast Foundation 501 (c)(3) would like to invite middle school, high school students and the parents interested in Sports Information and Broadcasting to a Career Seminar taking place before the Piston’s game at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30. Check-in at 10:45 a.m. in the West Box Office entrance. We will go into the arena at 11 a.m. Seminar will run from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. We’ll then break for lunch and tours (to be determined) following lunch.

Vicki Foley – President of the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association

George Eichorn – Executive Director, Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association

John Johnson – Communications Director, Michigan High School Athletic Association

Jeremy Steele – Executive Director, Michigan Interscholastic Press Association

Steve Stuckey – Pistons Scoring Crew Director.

Tim Johnston – Sports Information Director, Marygrove College

Jeremy Otto, Voice of Marygrove Athletics

Jesse Goldberg-Strassler – Lansing Lugnuts Play-By-Play Announcer; Author of The Baseball Thesaurus

Following the seminar, the Detroit Pistons play the Golden State Warriors. Golden State’s Draymond Green led the Saginaw High School Trojans to MHSAA Boys Basketball Championships in 2007 and 2008. Draymond played college basketball at Michigan State, helping the Spartans get to two NCAA Final Fours and a Big Ten Tournament Championship in 2012. Green was selected in the second round as the 35th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
