Boys Junior Varsity Wrestling, Boys Varsity Wrestling · Wrestlers do well with limited squad

The Salem Wrestling team has had some bumps in the road in the beginning of their season, but that didn’t stop them from a good showing at the Wayne County Wrestling Tournament on Saturday December 20th at Wyandotte Roosevelt High School.

Assistant Head Coach Jeremy Henderson was pleased. “We have had a lot of guys out due to injuries, illness and grades.  We only  entered 9 guys on Saturday but we placed 6 of the 9 and 12th in a very tough field of teams only 20 points from a top 8 finish. Our guys wrestled very well!”

“We were very impressed with Roy Foster. He beat some tough kids on his way to 3rd place only losing to the Champion of the tournament.  Akash Rai also wrestled very well and took 5th.  Mitchell Gross was runner up while Caleb McCabe took 3rd.  Seth Dunn as 6th and Tyler Moore was 8th.”

Next Saturday is the Annual Salem Elks Christmas Tournament on the 27th in the Salem Gym, starting at 9:00 a.m.
