Boys Varsity Cross Country · Boys XC 7th at County Championships

The Salem Boys Cross Country team finished 7th place out of 34 schools at the 2016 Wayne County Championships with 216 points.

The Rocks were led by sophomore Luke Haran, who ran 16:33 to earn all-county honors.  He now ranks #26 in school history and the #3 sophomore.  Haran was followed closely behind by a solid pack of Andrew Beyer (17:08, #61 all-time), Shane McKimmy (17:08, #61 all-time and #15 sophomore), Tyler Dew (17:10, #64 all-time), and Owen Parks (17:17, #72 all-time).  Also running varsity were junior Ryan Exell (17:27) and senior Tyrin Johnson (17:34)

The Rocks won the JV race, going 1-2-4-5-17 to score 29 points.  Leading the way were Alex Kroll (17:07), Alec Teodori (17:15), Nolan Teodori (17:29), Christo Jeffers (17:30), and Alex Lindsay (17:51).

Earning Golden Shoe Awards for their performances were sophomore Christo Jeffers, senior Alex Lindsay, junior Nick Ontko, junior Reed Barker, freshman Anthony Genna, and freshman Khadin Reynolds.  On the day, 47 athletes ran new season bests and 44 athletes ran new lifetime bests.  The Rocks have now had 14 runners break 18:00, the most in school history.
