Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments: “On a humid day these girls competed with passion and determination. They remained focused and wanted to win and win big. The girls put on a show today by putting 7 girls in the top 16 places. That is 7 girls in front of every other teams #2 runner except for one. In the JV race, the Salem girls placed the first 10 through the chute. There was a lot of hardware coming home on Saturday to Salem. This week these girls WANTED to win and start the championship season off with a bang. Hallie Younglas and Reagan Justice were geared up with that desire to go win the invitational championship. The varsity ran as a unit and came through the mile mark very aggressive to put themselves in the position to succeed. Younglas and Justice were in second at place at different times of this race trying to put pressure on the front runner. I was extremely proud of this team today for competing hard and running smart. We knew going in that we were the team to beat and did not want to have a let down. The girls exceeded our expectations by dominating and winning their 4th County Championship in a row.”
