It’s never easy losing a 5 set match. I was happy with how we came out the first match and ran our offense. The biggest thing that stood out the first game was our defense. We have been really working on transitioning from defense to offense. It is very important for us to do our best to control the pace of the play. Our serving was a great asset the entire match as we ended with 18 aces with only 11 errors. This night was more than just about volleyball. Tonight was our Charity Night, the Charity that we honored was “Athletic Angels” which was started by Barwis Method. At Barwis Methods, we have a deep desire to utilize our resources and relationships to help those in need in the most practical, tangible ways possible. Barwis Methodsâ 501(c)(3), Athletic Angels, is a nonprofit organization providing impoverished youth in our communities with important and necessary resources, experiences, and mentorship. More specifically, annually, we pledge to host children from Methodist Childrenâs Home Society (Redford, MI) and Place of Hope (Palm Beach County, FL) weekly for mentoring and training sessions (complete with a snack or meal) with our staff and pro athletes, and for a special holiday party and dinner in December. We also organize a âgiving treeâ each holiday season to address any specific needs/wants of the children at each of these organizations. Both Methodist Childrenâs Home Society and Place of Hope rescue abused and neglected children, and help with foster care placement and adoption.
