Our next Salem coach spotlight will be on the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach, Dan Young! Coach Young has been coaching for 25 years total, but he is currently in his second season for the Salem basketball program. In high school, he played basketball, baseball, and ran cross country. Coach Young’s favorite part of the job is the people. He loves all the people he gets to work with at Salem and how rewarding it is to coach student-athletes. The best memories are having former players reach out and tell him how much fun they had playing for him. The Rocks are currently working hard in preparation to make a run at the end of the season. The toughest part of their season has been dealing with a lot of injuries and illness. Coach Young’s advice to student-athletes would be to control what you can control and always be a great teammate. What he is most proud of is his family! Good luck to Coach Young and Salem Girls Basketball throughout the rest of their season!
