Rocks News · Wrestling 6th at League Tournament!

The Salem Wrestling team had a good showing taking 6th at the KLAA Conforence individual tournament.  They finished behind Hartland, Brighton, John Glenn, Franklin and Grand Blanc.

“Considering we have 3 of the top 6 teams in the state in our conference, I thought we had a pretty good day.  of the 12 wrestlers we sent, 8 placed in the top 6 meaning they wrestled all day long.  Of those 8 wrestlers, 6 placed top 5 meaning they are considered “All Conference”.  We avenged a lot of losses yesterday which is good for seeding next Saturday.  Ali Kobeissi (135) beat a tough kid who had beaten him before, and Justin Pronyk (171) is a freshmen and took 5th which is pretty impressive.  Every weight class is tough at the league tournament so its nice for these guys to battle and get the team in the top half of the conference.  We need a couple of good days of practice as we make a push to get a handful of kids to individual regionals next Saturday as well as get our 4th straight District Team title on Wed at Northville.  I know these boys have worked their butts of so its time to cash in!”- Head Coach Jeremy Henderson
