Rocks News · Boys XC Conference Champions

The Boys Cross Country team won the 2020 KLAA Conference Championship today at Huron Meadows Metropark, winning the school’s first conference championship since 2003.  The Rocks scored 55 points in a close meet with Northville (60 points) closely behind.

After a bit of a wonky start, Salem settled in nicely and steadily moved up throughout the race.  Talha Syed ran a new senior CR 16:00 to finish 3rd place; Gary Gardella ran a season-best 16:15 to finish 5th; Hezekiah Williams ran 16:19 to finish 8th; Evan Wheeler ran a new personal best 16:37 to finish 15th; Gavin Ray ran a season best 16:44 to finish 24th.  All five of these seniors earned all-conference honors with their performances today.

Senior Abhi Surampudi (17:02, new personal best) and junior Andrew Laesch (17:12, new personal best) finished 36th and 46th, respectively.

Salem will look to add to their Championship haul at the District Championships next Saturday at Hudson Mills Metropark.
