On Tuesday April 10th the Salem Rocks traveled to Westland John Glenn to face off against the Rockets. This was the first time these teams have faced off in nearly a decade and the Rocks prevailed by a score of 111-26.
In the throws, the Rocks were led by senior Alex Howie who won both the shot put and discus, and sophomore Jackson King who finished 3rd in the discus.
The jumps were led by newcomers Trevell Hale and Julius Nelson in the high jump going 1st and 3rd respectively. In the long jump senior Ryan Young finished 2nd and Trevell Hale took 3rd.
In the sprints, Salem was led by seniors Andrew Davis, Jason Warras, Ryan Young, Sharriff Dyer, and junior Jacob Visel, who each chipped in with victories. The two hurdle races were won by Dyer with senior John Paul DelaCruz adding runner-up finishes.
A handful of guys led the Rocks in the distance events, including seniors Andrew Beyer, Carter Hackney, Alec Teodori and Jacob Vick, who won the 3200 Relay. Junior Luke Haran, senior Nolan Teodori, and freshman Talha Syed swept the 1600; Beyer, junior Christo Jeffers, and Alec Teodori swept the 800; sophomore Bryce Paine, junior Shane McKimmy, and Vick swept the 3200.
Michael Schroeder, Josh Pohl, Hezekiah Williams, and Berry Matthews put a cap on the meet with an outstanding performance in the 1600 Relay.
