The Salem Boys tennis team traveled to Brighton on Tuesday and came away with an 8-1 victory over the Bulldogs.
At 1 singles Eric Liu coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Devin MacRitchie.
Filling in at 2 singles for the absent Jason Zheng was Anish Sabnis, who normally plays 5 doubles. Anish did an admirable job, but fell to Drake Harbrecht 6-1, 6-3.
Ajay Bharathan, 3 singles, had an easy time with Jesse Eron 6-0, 6-0.
Nihal Lingam, 4 singles, continued his winning streak 6-1, 6-1 over Jake Saxman.
Khush Patel and Andrew Clarke at 1 doubles were off the court quickly defeating Anuzig/Gopigian 6-0, 6-1.
2 doubles, Ryan Th’e and Rahul Rao, played a smart, steady match to beat Ilacquer/Schreiber 6-2, 6-2.
Cal Smiley and Havish Poluru started off slow, dropping the first set before coming alive to down Simpson/Campbell 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 (super tie breaker).
4 doubles, Parker Henderson and Ansh Dave also struggled but turned it around and bested Sak/K. Schreiber 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
Majd Yahya and Gautham Kanakasabal, filling in at 5 doubles, coasted to an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Foster/Anuzis.
Playing at 6 doubles was the freshmen team of Anish Bharathan and Nikki Kondagunta. They were the last match on court and played well to come away with a 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 victory over Zawiga/Anuzis, as their teammates cheered them on to victory.
