Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments: “We finally got a decent weather day to race and took full advantage. The course was wet, but still fast. We needed this today because our girls have been working very hard in practice and meet days have not be conducive to running fast. The girls started off the day with a dominant performance in the JV race with the first 23 finishers. The JV were led by freshman Marissa Henry who came back from an injury this week with a time of 19:57. After seeing their JV teammates go out with a great race, the Varsity went out with enthusiasm and took command early. Reagan and Olivia went out on a mission and took the side by side lead right from the gun. It was great to see them feed off each other and go out with the drive to win. I could see it in their eyes today and they lead this team to victory with passion by running the perfect race. Both ran season and career PR’s today. The rest of the varsity worked as a unit and pushed through the course together. The varsity is running like such a cohesive unit right now its exciting. All varsity athletes medaled today. It is very exciting for us since this is the first time in Salem Girls XC history that a team won all seven of the seasons Invitationals in a year.”
