Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments: “The weather and course were perfect for some great racing today and our girls did not disappoint. We knew coming in that we were the favorite to win, but there are always many unknowns this early in the season. I wanted the varsity to get out of traffic and run a smooth first mile and build throughout the race. They got stuck a bit in the first half mile and really had to push in the end to get into our position. The girls exerted a little more energy than I hoped in that mile but they fought throughout the rest of the race to put in 6 runners in the top 11 finishers. The Varsity is running with such determination and confidence a this time of the season, it is exciting to see what they can accomplish. The JV topped off with a dominating performance taking the first 10 finishers and 18 of the top 20. The JV was led by Sophomore Brooke Kalis with a winning performance in 20:44.”
