Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments:
“Today capped off a really tough week. Illness has swept through our team in the past ten days along with the injury bug. Competition is no time for excuses and others need to step up when a teammate is down. Our Varsity is kind of split in two right now and we are trying to be more cohesive. With this type of competition we knew we needed to get out and lock in on key runners. Our top three (Millen, Kulick, Henry) did just that with terrific starts. Not sure what happened but our second row in the box did not hear the started and were delayed. Early on those 5 were in the last 15 places of the race. From the gun they were playing catch up and with the talent here, we could not catch them. Today was not one of our better days but that is life. We will refocus and lace up our spikes getting ready for our race on Tuesday against Hartland. Millen, Kulick & Henry ran well again today. Olivia ran the perfect race and was extremely focused from start to finish. Olivia hunted today in the last mile and a half to finish in 5th place with a time of 19:00.8 and earn the special honor of Legend for finishing in the top five with a commemorative tshirt.”
