Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments:
“The weather spiked today to 86 degrees with high humidity on a very unforgiving tough course. We knew going in that many times in a rivalry competition, teams will make mistakes and compete with emotion instead of competing with a strategy. Today was no different. We knew going in today what was needed to come out with a victory. Packing and pacing in front of Plymouth’s #3. We let the two top Plymouth Girls go and concentrated on Plymouth’s #3. There were several Canton and 5 Plymouth in front of our pack early. Once we hit the mile mark, we ramped up our pace and started to click of a solid middle mile push pace. After our girls went by with strength, we were able to maintain and pack in 6 runners in front of Plymouth’s #3 to seal the victory. I was very happy with their execution today. The team raced very smart considering the heat and toughness of the course. Our seniors really stepped up on their last race at Cass Benton. It felt great to send them off with a victory and PCEP champion’s for the 10th straight year.”
