Coach Angela Carron’s Comments:
All the hard work the girls put in at practice this past week truly prepared them for race day today. Hard workouts and long miles all week help to make a 5k race seem easy and fun. The girls had fun. They powered through the rolling hills on the course and showed their strength to pick their opponents off one by one. We had more than 50% of the girls medal in both the 9/10 and 11/12 races. Lots of smiling faces and a few PRs. An outstanding race in the 9/10 event by Mackenzie Zapinski with an amazing kick earning her both a medal and a personal best. Madeline LaForest shined in the 11/12 race competing against her twin sister who runs for a rival school. I always say whatever motivates you, go with it and she did not want to get beat by her sister today. An amazing race from the gun to a fiery kick to the finish for Madeline. A great day of friendly competition all around. Excited to see what the girls do next weekend at Wayne County.
