Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments:
“Decent way to cap off a great season finishing 14th out of 28 qualifying teams in Division 1. The course took a beating over the last few days with 48 hours straight of rain. We were also the 5th race of the day so the racers were sinking in the mud. But that is racing and competition. Everyone is in the same conditions and has to compete. We definitely did that today. We told our girls that they had to get out in the first 600 meters and be more aggressive in this type of race. Only Olivia and Marissa got out before the field swept in. Isabell really made up places through out the race after a slow start and ran a very smooth split race. Elizabeth, Grace, Kiersten and Abby were in the back third of the field early and worked their way up. The tough thing here is that, everyone is talented. I am really proud of these girls for competing in the way they did today in tough conditions. This team collectively has overcome some tough stuff this year to remain successful.”
