Coach Dave Gerlach’s Comments:
“This past week was a very emotional one for our team as we lost our Captain Reagan to a season ending injury. We were a little nervous how our team would respond after the news today. The weather was beautiful and conducive to some great racing. Today a few girls earned the opportunity to race Varsity through hard work at practice. The Varsity was hungry and focused from the gun. I thought We had the best start of the year and were right in position to latch on. Millen ran the perfect race sitting in the lead pack before breaking away at 2 1/2 mark. Isabell and Marissa went out hard at the gun and fought all all the way. They hunted people down to finish 8th and 9th. Grace Landon had a break out race. We have been waiting for this and she raced with confidence and heart. Elizabeth, Abby and Gracie really stepped up and made the most of their Varsity opportunity. All 7 varsity ran season personnel bests. Not to shabby. We are looking forward to the rest of championship season.”
